Spurious SMS from Verizon?

I received an SMS from Verizon instructing me to go to Palm - Support - Downloads to check for an important update for my phone to help with accurate billing. Well, that got my attention! Unfortunately when I went to the site, the most recent update was from last September 2007. Very strange. Is this a “just in case you never updated, you should do it” SMS that Verizon is sending out? If so, I resent their not being more honest.

Did any other Verizon customers receive this SMS?
